As part of the working visit of the Ukrainian delegation to Washington, led by President Volodymyr Zelenskyy, Minister of Energy of Ukraine Svitlana Grynchuk participated in a series of high-level strategic meetings with American partners.
As part of the visit, the Ukrainian delegation held a series of strategic meetings including U.S. Secretary of Energy Chris Wright and the executives of Bechtel, Fluence Energy, GE Vernova, Holtec International, Invenergy, Jacobs, Mercuria, Parsons, TechMet USA, Venture Global, and Westinghouse Electric Company.
During the discussions, the Ukrainian side presented detailed information on the consequences of ongoing Russian attacks on Ukraine's energy infrastructure and outlined the urgent needs for restoring damaged facilities. President Zelenskyy underscored Ukraine's interest in expanding the presence of U.S. companies in the national energy sector.
A key focus of the meeting with Secretary Wright was on specific joint projects aimed at fostering mutually beneficial cooperation and contributing to the reconstruction and modernization of Ukraine's energy system.
"In particular, we talked about nuclear energy and liquefied natural gas. I look forward to continuing our fruitful dialogue with the minister, as we had a substantive online conversation earlier this week. Such a reliable partnership with the U.S. plays an important role in strengthening our energy security and successfully overcoming the challenges of the heating season," noted Grynchuk.
In addition, the Ukrainian delegation discussed with U.S. energy companies the prospects for implementing both short-term and long-term projects, including initiatives in the oil, gas, and nuclear sectors, as well as potential mechanisms for financing these efforts.
