Today, October 10, Prime Minister of Ukraine Yulia Svyrydenko summoned a meeting with key ministries, public electricity companies, and services responsible for the restoration of critical infrastructure.
Following a massive combined attack by russia targeting civilian infrastructure, particularly energy facilities, in all regions of Ukraine, restoration work began after the air raid sirens went off.
"Russians have once again struck at Ukraine's civilian infrastructure — a deliberate attack on the lives of people and communities. This was among the largest combined strikes on our energy system, with a significant share of ballistic missiles. Unfortunately, the damage to energy facilities is substantial," emphasized Yulia Svyrydenko.
At the meeting, reports were heard from the Deputy Prime Minister for the Restoration, the Minister of Energy, and the Minister of Internal Affairs on the aftermath of the attack and the restoration plan. Repair crews, energy workers, and all necessary services are operating since 7:30 a.m. accross all affected regions. Instructions have been issued for every oblast to ensure coordinated recovery efforts to restore power and water supply as quickly as possible.
In Kyiv and Kirovohrad region, water supply is expected to be restored by the end of the day.
Critical infrastructure has already been reconnected in the capital, while work to restore electricity supply is ongoing. The Ministry of Energy shall provide updated information in a few hours.
Emergency and special outage schedules remain in effect in Kyiv, Poltava, Kharkiv, and Sumy regions - the announcements will be made by the Ministry of Energy and Ukrenergo.
Alternative energy sources have been provided for the duration of the work: generators, emergency shelters, and additional communications.
In Kyiv and other regions, police patrols have also been reinforced to maintain security and public order in the streets and in the pubic transport.
The Prime Minister stressed the importance of maximum coordination among local authorities, communities, and energy companies with central authorities to ensure effective emergency work.
"I am grateful to everyone who is tirelessly working to restore power and normal life for our citizens," added Yulia Svyrydenko.
