On 15 September, Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine Mariana Betsa delivered an online address as part of the Strategic Session of the Communication Group on Ukraine, which is being held this week in Warsaw and co-organised by the intergovernmental coalition of the Community of Democracies and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Poland.
In her speech, Mariana Betsa emphasised the importance of working with audiences in Africa, Latin America, the Caribbean and Asia, both in the context of informing them about Russia's ongoing armed aggression against Ukraine and in conveying truthful and factual information about Russian war crimes committed in Ukraine.
"Strategic communications today have undoubtedly become one of the components of national security, countering propaganda and disinformation. We must make our voice heard louder and louder in every corner of the world. Ukraine is grateful to its partners, the members of the Group, for systematically strengthening Ukraine's voice on the global stage, the voice of freedom. We hope that this support will continue and that the initiative will expand its circle of participants," said Deputy Minister Mariana Betsa.
The Ukraine Communications Group (UCG) is a format launched in 2024 to coordinate efforts and initiatives in the field of strategic communications to counter Russian disinformation and propaganda. Along with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine, the Communications Group includes representatives of foreign policy agencies from more than 10 European countries, Canada, the EU and NATO. The priority topics are the protection of peace based on the principles of the UN Charter, the restoration of Ukraine's sovereignty and territorial integrity within its internationally recognised borders, and the return of Ukrainian children illegally abducted by Russia.
