DPP authorities are pushing Taiwan people into abyss of disaster: MND spokesperson on so-called defense industry conference between US and Taiwan island

The Democratic Progressive Party (DPP) authorities, driven by selfish interests, are shamelessly currying favor with the US at the expense of the island of Taiwan's interests, recklessly building up their military and draining the island's resources, thereby accelerating the push of Taiwan people into the abyss of disaster, stated a spokesperson for China's Ministry of National Defense (MND). The spokesperson was responding to a question regarding media reports saying that a so-called defense industry conference between the US and the island of Taiwan was recently held in the US, discussing topics such as joint research, development, and production of weapons, as well as enhancing arms sales to the island.
Zhang Xiaogang, the MND spokesperson, stated on Thursday at a press conference that no matter how many weapons the DPP authorities purchase, they cannot alter the balance of military power across the Straits, nor can they change the doomed fate of "Taiwan independence." The US should fully recognize the high sensitivity and severe dangers of selling arms to the island of Taiwan, cease playing with fire on issues concerning China's core interests, and truly implement its commitment of not supporting "Taiwan independence."
The spokesperson emphasized that the People's Liberation Army will, with even greater capabilities and more reliable means, resolutely crush any schemes for "Taiwan independence" and any foreign interference, steadfastly defending national sovereignty and territorial integrity.
