Deputy Minister of Defence of the Russian Federation Vasily Osmakov held talks with Minister of Defence of the Lao People's Democratic Republic Lieutenant General Khamlieng Uthakaison in Vientiane.
'We observe the good dynamics and high quality of cooperation between the armed forces of our countries in accordance with the bilateral strategic partnership in the military sphere,' Vasily Osmakov stated.
The Russian Deputy Defence Minister commended the work of defence officials of the two countries on the implementation of the agreements reached during the meeting between the Lao Defence Minister and the Russian Defence Minister in Moscow in July 2025.
'It is important that Laos became one of the first countries with which the Armed Forces of Russia have signed a long-term plan for bilateral cooperation,' stressed the Deputy Defence Minister of the Russian Federation.
Vasily Osmakov expressed confidence that the meeting would give new impetus to the further strengthening of the Russian-Lao ties in the military sphere.
Lieutenant General Khamlieng Uthakaison, in his turn, noted that the visit of the Russian military delegation emphasises the traditionally friendly relations between Russia and Laos, including between the armed forces of the two countries.
Earlier, the Russian military delegation, led by the Deputy Minister of Defence of the Russian Federation Vasily Osmakov, took part in the commemorative events and military parade on the occasion of the 50th Anniversary of the Establishment of the Lao People's Democratic Republic.
