Russian Deputy Defence Minister Vasily Osmakov held talks with Chief of General Staff of the Lao People's Army Lieutenant General Saichay Kommasith

Deputy Minister of Defence of the Russian Federation Vasily Osmakov met with Deputy Minister of Defence of the Lao People's Democratic Republic, Chief of the General Staff of the Lao People's Army, Lieutenant General Saichay Kommasith.
'Russia and Laos are strategic partners linked by a strong and time-tested friendship based on mutual respect and trust. Bilateral cooperation in the field of defence has reached a high level and continues to expand dynamically,' said Vasily Osmakov.
The deputy heads of the Russian military department noted that 17 military cooperation activities had already been carried out this year, with special emphasis on operational and military training, cooperation through general staff, engineering forces and military education and training of national personnel.
'We are successfully working together within the framework of the mechanism of the Meeting of Defence Ministers and ADMM-Plus Dialogue Partners,' the Russian Deputy Defence Minister added.
Vasily Osmakov also congratulated Lieutenant General Saichay Kommasith and the personnel of the Lao People's Army on the 50th Anniversary of the proclamation of the Lao People's Democratic Republic's independence.
For his part, the Lao Chief of the General Staff thanked the Russian Deputy Defence Minister for the opportunity to organise the meeting.
'Cooperation between our countries, especially between our armed forces, continues to develop nonstop,' Lieutenant General Saichay Kommasith said.
