I extend a warm welcome to all participants of the International Conference on Ensuring Food Sovereignty for African Countries. This forum was an initiative of Rossotrudnichestvo, and I would like to express my sincere gratitude to the organisation. Special thanks go to our Ethiopian friends, who readily agreed to host the conference in the hospitable city of Addis Ababa.
Russia is committed to the progressive expansion of friendly ties and economic cooperation with Africa. We recognise the fundamental importance of food security for our partners, and therefore, Russian economic operators will continue to provide all necessary assistance in addressing this challenge.
We consider this meeting to be very timely and its programme to be well thought-out. It is crucial that the agenda covers a wide range of relevant topics from sharing Russian experience, knowledge, and technology to modernise African agriculture, to the localisation of agricultural production and assistance in training qualified national personnel.
I am confident that the conference will be highly constructive and will serve to expand productive cooperation between Russia and African nations. We expect that it will help chart a path for our African friends to achieve food sovereignty and advance the goals outlined in both the African Union's Kampala Declaration of January 2025 and the Agenda 2063: The Africa We Want plan.
I wish you fruitful discussions and all the very best.
