Russian and Belarusian defence ministers discuss bilateral military cooperation in Almaty

Russian Defence Minister Andrei Belousov discussed with head of the military department of Belarus Lieutenant General Viktor Khrenin prospects of the military cooperation between Moscow and Minsk.
'Our regular talks contribute to strengthening the common defence area of the Union State,' noted Andrei Belousov in talks with Viktor Khrenin. The event took place on Friday as part of the meeting of the CIS Council of Defence Ministers in Almaty.
He also recalled that, on 15 October, during the Joint Defence Ministry Board Session of Belarus and Russia, the results of activities over the past year were reviewed, promising areas of cooperation were identified, and objectives were set in the security sphere.
'I am convinced that the five-year strategic partnership program, which we have approved, is going to give a new impetus for the bilateral relations,' stressed the Russian Defence Minister.
