Defense Minister meets with Kevin Kim, Chargé d'Affaires ad interim at the US Embassy in Seoul

On the afternoon of November 21, Defense Minister Ahn Gyu-back met with Kevin Kim, Chargé d'Affaires ad interim at the US Embassy in Seoul, to discuss developments on the Korean Peninsula, regional dynamics, and ways to further strengthen the ROK-US Alliance.
Minister Ahn welcomed Chargé d'Affaires ad interim Kim's appointment and asked for his close cooperation to ensure that the joint fact sheet reflecting the outcomes of the ROK-US summit and the 57th ROK-US Security Consultative Meeting (SCM) contributes to the smooth development of the Alliance into a future-oriented, comprehensive, and strategic partnership.
Chargé d'Affaires ad interim Kim reaffirmed the United States' ironclad commitment to the defense of the Republic of Korea and stated that the US Embassy in Seoul will remain dedicated to further advancing the strong ROK-US Alliance.
Minister Ahn outlined the Korean government's policy direction to establish sustainable peace on the Korean Peninsula while maintaining a robust combined defense posture. Chargé d'Affaires ad interim Kim agreed on the importance of close cooperation between South Korea and the United States on policy toward North Korea.
Both sides pledged to further strengthen cooperation to build a mutually beneficial, future-oriented Alliance, including collaboration in the shipbuilding sector and the expansion of maintenance, repair, and overhaul (MRO) projects.
