Commenting on Taiwan regional leader Lai Ching-te's move of voicing support for Japanese Prime Minister Takaichi despite that her erroneous remarks on Taiwan caused continuous protests in Taiwan, and Lai posting photo on social media of eating sushi to show "solidarity" with the Japanese side, State Council Taiwan Affairs Office spokesperson Peng Qing'en said on Wednesday that Lai dines on the scraps of groveling to Japan while engaging in the business of selling out Taiwan. Lai's words and deeds are nauseating, laying bare once again his despicable countenance of forsaking his ancestors and betraying the nation.
The spokesperson also warned the Lai Ching-te authorities that any act of relying on external forces will only bring humiliation upon themselves, and any traitor to the nation will surely face the trial of justice.
Regarding the erroneous remarks on the Taiwan question made by Takaichi recently, Peng said her erroneous remarks constitute gross interference in China's internal affairs, gravely violate international law and the basic norms governing international relations, seriously undermine the post-war international order, seriously contravene the one-China principle and the spirit of the four political documents between China and Japan, and deeply hurt the feelings of the Chinese people.
The Japanese side should immediately reflect on its mistake, correct its course and retract these erroneous remarks on Taiwan, Peng said.
