Prime Minister TAKAICHI Held Talk with President of the French Republic

On November 23, commencing at 0:15 p.m. local time (7:15 p.m. on November 23, JST) for approximately 10 minutes, Mr. TAKAICHI Sanae, Prime Minister of Japan, who is visiting South Africa to attend the G20 Johannesburg Summit, held a talk with H.E. Mr. Emmanuel Macron, President of the French Republic. The overview is as follows:

  1. Prime Minister TAKAICHI emphasized the importance of advancing Japan-France cooperation amid challenging the international circumstances. She also noted that France holds the G7 presidency next year and expressed a desire for close coordination between the two countries within the G7 framework.
  2. Recognizing that security of Indo-Pacific and Euro-Atlantic is inseparable, the two leaders concurred that Japan and France, as 'Exceptional Partner' sharing common values and principles, would continue to cooperate closely across all fields, such as security, the economy, economic security, and space.
