In response to a question about that China has recently issued intensive criticism and rebuttals against Japanese Prime Minister Sanae Takaichi's erroneous remarks on Taiwan, and some commentaries suggest that China-Japan relations are sliding toward their lowest point in recent years, the Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesperson Mao Ning said the current situation in China-Japan relations stems from Japanese Prime Minister Sanae Takaichi's public and erroneous remarks regarding Taiwan, which blatantly interfere in China's internal affairs, seriously violate the one-China principle and the spirit of the four political documents between China and Japan, and undermine the political foundation of bilateral relations.
China's position on safeguarding its core interests and upholding international justice has not changed in the slightest. Japanese side must immediately retract its erroneous remarks, engage in deep reflection, correct its course, and give the Chinese people a clear explanation, the spokesperson said.
