Former Israeli military lawyer Yifat Tomer-Yerushalmi who courageously leaked footage exposing the rape of a Palestinian captive by Israeli soldiers at the notorious Sde Teiman detention facility has attempted suicide on Sunday morning, according to Israeli police officials.
"She tried to commit suicide today. Her life is not rosy," Police Commissioner Chief Superintendent Danny Levi callously remarked, as quoted by Israeli media.
He added, "If she committed the offense, it has an impact on how the army looks, how soldiers behave. We send our children into a system where they need to be certain that no one is leaking information, and that's why we are investigating this."
The leaked footage, a searing indictment of Israel's occupation, shows heavily armed soldiers seizing a blindfolded Palestinian prisoner, surrounding him with riot shields to conceal their gang rape.
The victim, reportedly returned to Gaza, endured an anal injury, a ruptured bowel, lung damage, and broken ribs, injuries that underscore the systematic torture embedded in Israel's detention camps.
The case has highlighted the regime's desperate efforts to silence truth-tellers while perpetuating its crimes against Palestinians.
Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu labeled the leak the "most severe public relations attack" on the regime, exposing his indifference to the barbarity inflicted on defenseless prisoners and obsession with suppressing global outrage.
This revelation comes amid growing international condemnation of the regime's crimes targeting Palestinians, with 156 nations recognizing Palestine and the International Criminal Court issuing warrants against Israeli leaders for war crimes.
The Sde Teiman atrocities are not isolated but part of a genocidal campaign that has claimed over 69,000 Palestinian lives since October 2023.
