Commander: IRGC ready to share counter-terrorism experiences with SCO members

Tabriz, IRNA -- Chief Commander of the Islamic Revolution Guards Corps (IRGC), Major General Mohammad Pakpour, says that the IRGC has gained valuable experience through direct confrontation with Takfiri and separatist terrorism in recent years and is ready to share this experience with the member countries of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO).

During the opening ceremony of the joint Sahand-2025 anti-terrorism exercise on Thursday, Major General Pakpour addressed the participating teams via a video message.

Honoring the memory of the martyrs of the recent 12-day war, he emphasized, "The Islamic Republic of Iran, after enduring this war and despite all pressures and threats, is committed to strengthening regional and international cooperation with a national resolve and a strategic outlook."

The commander added, "Iran's position within the Shanghai Cooperation Organization is active and responsible, focused on constructive participation in collective security."

He said that terrorist threats know no borders or geography, adding, "Confronting these threats requires joint actions, specialized exercises, and the exchange of information and experience among member states."

Major General Pakpour added, "The design of the 2025 Sahand exercise reflects this understanding, to enhance our collective capabilities to confront threats to regional and global security."

In addition, he noted, "The significant presence of military and security commanders from both member and non-member countries at this exercise is a strong indication of our collective effort, synergy, and shared commitment to combating terrorism and enhancing security stability in the region."

Director of Executive Committee of SCO RATS summarizes first phase of exercise

Ularbek Sharsheev, the Director of the Executive Committee of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization Regional Anti-Terrorist Structure (SCO RATS), summarized the first phase of the joint Sahand-2025 anti-terrorism exercise.

He said, "Conducting joint anti-terrorism exercises among the competent authorities of SCO member states is the most effective and proven method of cooperation in this field."

Sharsheev also emphasized that the Sahand-2025 anti-terrorism exercise demonstrates the strong commitment of SCO member states and their authorities to comprehensive cooperation in developing dialogue and practical interaction in the fight against the "three evil forces: terrorism, extremism, and separatism".

He noted that all participants successfully achieved the objectives established for the first phase of the exercise, adding, "Our Iranian colleagues have summarized the results of this phase, which were presented by the competent authorities of the member states. In accordance with the exercise plan, a joint exercise headquarters was formed from experts of the competent authorities of the SCO member states and the Executive Committee."

Sharsheev concluded, "I believe these exercises will be a significant step in strengthening the unity of anti-terrorist forces, serving as a catalyst for enhancing practical collaboration among the competent authorities of SCO member states to address new security challenges and threats."
