Brigadier General Ali Jahanshahi has been officially appointed as the new commander of the Islamic Republic of Iran Army Ground Force, succeeding Brigadier General Kiumars Heidari.
In his first remarks after the appointment on Saturday, Jahanshahi emphasized the Ground Forces' readiness to respond to potential threats using skilled personnel, modern equipment, and lessons from previous conflicts, particularly the recent 12-day Israeli-imposed war.
"The Ground Forces, with competent, faithful, and self‑sacrificing personnel, updated equipment, and the invaluable experience of veterans, are ready to respond to any possible threats from our enemies," Jahanshahi said in an address to Army Ground Force commanders.
He also noted that the Army is currently prioritizing five strategic principles and directives from Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei, which focus on enhancing mobility, efficiency, human capital, weapons, and equipment to respond to evolving threats.
Jahanshahi further emphasized the growing role of scientific elites, knowledge-based companies, and emerging technologies such as artificial intelligence in enhancing combat readiness.
He said that the Ground Forces have achieved a high level of combat capability, particularly in drone operations and air defense, signaling a more mobile and agile land force capable of responding effectively in future conflicts.
Jahanshahi also stressed the evolving nature of threats, noting Iran's current cognitive and hybrid warfare environment, with adversaries employing soft power and psychological tactics after unsuccessful attempts at conventional warfare.
He also stated that with the guidance of the Leader of the Islamic Revolution, the unity of the Iranian nation, and the strength of the Armed Forces, all enemy plans will be neutralized.
The newly-appointed commander also stressed modernization efforts through domestic expertise, multi-skilling of personnel, improved welfare and morale, and upgrades to artillery, missile systems, and command and control capabilities, aimed at creating a dynamic, agile, and highly capable Ground Force.
