AEOI chief says proposal for new anti-Iran resolution is repetitive

Tehran, IRNA -- Head of the Atomic Energy Organization of Iran (AEOI) Mohammad Eslami said the European Troika's efforts to pass a new resolution against Iran at the upcoming International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) Board of Governors meeting is repetitive and aims to exert more pressure on Iran.

It is regrettable that the three European countries and the US are continuing the same unilateral and coercive approach against Iran and have once again placed the same provocative and unreal claims in the form of a new resolution on their agenda, Eslami said speaking on the sidelines of the International Conference International Law Under Attack: Aggression and Defense held in Tehran on Sunday.

He described the attack on Iran's nuclear facilities as unprecedented in history, and said unlike previous attacks on nuclear facilities in Syria, Iraq, or issues raised about Zaporizhzhia, Iran's facilities were under IAEA safeguards and continuous monitoring.

This is the first time an attack has been carried out on nuclear facilities registered with and continuously monitored by the IAEA, even under enhanced surveillance, and this truly constitutes a blow to international law, he stated.

He criticized the IAEA and its director general for not condemning these attacks.

The UN Security Council also failed to slam the attack, which means a blow to the rules, he reiterated.

Eslami urged the world to pay more attention to the fact that abusing international organizations, especially the IAEA, will pave the way for the implementation of double standards and the law of the jungle.

He noted that the new claims are all pretexts used to exert pressure on the people.

Iran has not violated any law; acted according to the regulations and will continue its work within the same framework, Eslami said.

The IAEA must have a procedure regarding the facilities that were attacked, he said.

The IAEA must answer whether attacking facilities under its supervision is permissible, he added.
