On November 12, Iran initiated a telephone conversation between Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov and Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Islamic Republic of Iran, Abbas Araghchi.

The two foreign ministers exchanged views on the latest bilateral and regional developments.

They praised Kabul and Islamabad for reaching an agreement, as mediated by Qatar and Türkiye, whereby both sides undertake to enact a ceasefire and put an end to firing incidents along the border between Afghanistan and Pakistan. They called for continuing the dialogue between the two friendly nations so that they can resolve their differences by political and diplomatic means for ensuring regional stability and security.

Sergey Lavrov and Abbas Araghchi went on to discuss the latest developments in the Middle East and started by focusing on the Palestinian-Israeli settlement and the way this topic has been treated within the UN Security Council. They also discussed this situation within the IAEA Board of Governors where France, the UK and Germany have been seeking to launch an anti-Iranian campaign.

The ministers also exchanged views on the bilateral agenda in its certain aspects.

They reaffirmed their shared commitment to fully carrying out the Treaty on a Comprehensive Strategic Partnership between Russia and Iran that came into effect on October 2.
