Russia vows to continue close cooperation with Iran in Middle East

Moscow, IRNA -- Russia's Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova has announced Moscow's readiness to continue close and constructive cooperation with the Islamic Republic in the Middle East.
Responding to IRNA in a presser on Thursday, Zakharova emphasized the importance of the comprehensive strategic partnership treaty between Tehran and Moscow.
She noted that stances of Russia and Iran on the vast majority of key international and regional issues are closely aligned or identical.
Zakharova said that the treaty, which recently came into effect, encourages the two nations to enhance their coordination further.
According to the document, both parties are committed to strengthening peace and security in their neighboring regions.
This commitment, she added, applies directly to the Middle East, underscoring Moscow's resolve to maintain its close and productive cooperation with Tehran.
