Belarusian Minister of Foreign Affairs Maxim Ryzhenkov says his country is determined to develop relations with Iran in various fields.
Ryzhenkov made the remark in a Thursday meeting with Iranian Deputy Foreign Minister Saeed Khatibzadeh, who is in Belarus to take part in the 3rd Minsk International Conference on Eurasian Security.
He hailed as "successful" a visit by Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian to Belarus in August.
He said an upcoming visit by Iran's foreign minister to Minsk, a scheduled trip by the Belarusian president to Tehran, and completion of joint projects in transportation and transit routes are among the important topics on the agenda of bilateral relations.
Khatibzadeh, for his part, said Iran is determined to enhance all-out ties with Belarus and remove any obstacle in this regard.
Pointing to the importance of the strategic relations between the two countries, he expressed hope that a meeting of the Iran-Belarus Joint Economic Committee in Tehran, the exchange of high-level delegations, and the signing of a strategic partnership agreement between Tehran and Minsk would strengthen bilateral cooperation.
In a meeting with his Belarusian counterpart, Alexander Lukashenko, in Minsk on August 20, the Iranian president warned that the United States and some of its Western allies are seeking to expand unilateralism across the globe and impose their dictates upon other nations, emphasizing that neither Iran nor Belarus will tolerate such an approach.
In the presence of the two presidents, high-ranking Iranian and Belarusian officials signed 12 documents for cooperation in the fields of politics, international law, tourism, arts, media, health and wellness, pharmaceuticals, industry, environment, free zones, special economic zones, and investment.
Khatibzadeh, who also serves as President of the Institute for Political and International Studies at Iran's Foreign Ministry, also held a meeting with Oleg Makarov, Director of the Belarusian Institute of Strategic Research.
During the meeting, the sides discussed ways to promote mutual ties as well as regional and international developments.
Khatibzadeh and Makarov stressed the importance of holding regular expert meetings between the two bodies.
The 3rd Minsk International Conference on Eurasian Security kicked off in the Belarusian capital on Tuesday, with representatives and experts from dozens of countries as well as several international organizations expected to discuss pressing issues of regional and global stability during the two-day event.
