Statement by the High Representative on behalf of the EU on the alignment of certain countries concerning restrictive measures against Iran

On 29 September 2025, the Council adopted Decision (CFSP)2025/19721 amending Decision 2010/413/CFSP concerning restrictive against Iran.

Following the re-imposition of all nuclear-related UN sanctions and restrictions related to Iran on 28 September 2025, the Council decided to reintroduce EU nuclear-related sanctions related to Iran that have been suspended or terminated under the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPoA). The Council notably decided to reintroduce restrictive measures on imports of crude oil, natural gas, petrochemical and petroleum products, as well as on the sale and supply of key equipment used in the energy sector, gold, certain metals and diamonds, certain naval equipment and certain software.

Albania, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Iceland, Moldova (Republic of), Montenegro, North Macedonia, Norway, Serbia, and Ukraine align themselves with this Council Decision.

They will ensure that their national policies conform to this Decision.

The European Union takes note of this commitment and welcomes it.
