IRNA - Islamic Republic News Agency

Tehran, Nov 11, IRNA -- Head of the Atomic Energy Organization of Iran (AEOI) Ali-Akbar Salehi said on Monday that Iran and the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) have reached agreement on IAEA inspection of Iran's Arak heavy water reactor and Gachin mine as allowed by the Supreme National Security Council.

Addressing a joint press conference with the IAEA Director General Yukio Amano after signing a joint statement, Salehi said with the new approach of the Iranian government, Iran and the IAEA reached a mutual agreement.

The Vice-President said the joint statement contains a roadmap for nuclear cooperation whichclarifies bilateral cooperation on the remaining issues.

He said the Iran-IAEA joint statement has a six-point appendix. "Our cooperation with the IAEA falls within framework of the Safeguard Agreement, i.e. inspection of the nuclear facilities within framework sof the Safeguards Agreement we have signed with the IAEA.

He added that the Islamic Republic of Iran is ready to show necessary flexibility to promote cooperation and we do not want to give pretexts to others to prevent any progress in this regard.

So the permission we gave is in line with the new approach the 11th government has adopted, added Salehi, concluding that there are many subjects in connection with the nuclear issue that should be discussed.
