Chinese FM responds to question about Saint Vincent and the Grenadines exploring possibility of developing relations with China

In response to a question about whether the Chinese Foreign Ministry can confirm that Prime Minister Ralph Gonsalves of Saint Vincent and the Grenadines has been in contact with the Chinese side and is exploring the possibility of developing relations with China, Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesperson Mao Ning said on Wednesday that the one-China principle is a universal consensus of the international community and a fundamental norm governing international relations.
The fact that 183 countries around the world have established diplomatic relations with China fully demonstrates that adhering to the one-China principle is the right cause, reflects the will of the people, and represents the prevailing trend, the spokesperson said, adding it is hoped that the relevant country would see the larger picture clearly, follow the trend of public opinion, and make the right decision at an early date.
