On October 16, 2025, Member of the Political Bureau of the CPC Central Committee and Director of the Office of the Central Commission for Foreign Affairs Wang Yi met in Beijing with Chairman and CEO of the Blackstone Group Stephen A. Schwarzman.
Wang Yi appreciated Stephen A. Schwarzman's long-standing efforts for engaging with both China and the United States(U.S.), making valuable contributions to promoting China-U.S. people-to-people and cultural exchanges and advancing bilateral relations.
Wang Yi said that China-U.S. relations are the most important bilateral relations in today's world. For China and the United States, the two major countries, peaceful coexistence is the fundamental bottom line that must be upheld. The correct ways for the two sides to engage with each other are equality, respect, and mutual benefit. Decoupling and severing supply chains are neither a realistic nor rational choice, and antagonism or confrontation will only lead to mutual loss. Both sides should carry out effective communication, properly handle differences, and promote the stable, sound, and sustainable development of China-U.S. relations.
Stephen A. Schwarzman said that U.S.-China relations are crucial to the world. He expressed the hope that the two sides will strengthen communication, eliminate misunderstandings, and promote their respective development and prosperity. He expressed his willingness to continue making active efforts in this regard.
