When asked to comment on Reuters' report that Mexican President Claudia Sheinbaum claimed on Thursday local time that Mexican government is considering imposing tariffs on imports from countries without trade agreements with Mexico, including China, Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesperson Guo Jiakun said on Friday that he was not aware of the specific situation mentioned.
China-Mexico economic and trade cooperation is mutually beneficial and benefits both peoples. China has always advocated inclusive globalization and opposes unilateralism, protectionism, and discriminatory or exclusionary measures in any form. China firmly opposes restrictions imposed against China under other's coercion that harm China's legitimate rights and interests. We believe that relevant countries will uphold independence and properly handle related issues, Guo said.
