Iran hopes for development of space cooperation with Russia

Moscow, Feb 1, Itar-Tass/ACSNA/IRNA -- Iran hopes for the development of space cooperation with Russia, Iranian Ambassador Gholamreza Shafei said here on Tuesday. He cited as a successful example of cooperation in this field the agreement on creation and launching of the first Iranian communications satellite Zohre. The agreement was signed in Tehran last week. "The negotiations were long and ended by the signing of the document. The project costs 132 million dollars," Shafei emphasized. According to him, "The Russian side will create and launch the telecommunications satellite. "Russian-Iranian cooperation is also developing in the military and technical sphere," the diplomat pointed out. Meanwhile, he noted that all negotiations in this field are of defensive character. /2322/1432
