GULFPORT, Miss. (NNS) -- The 22nd Naval Construction Regiment (NCR) is launching daily missions out of Naval Construction Battalion Center (CBC) Gulfport to relieve suffering in local communities along the Gulf Coast.

The missions have included tree removal, road clearing and supplying fuel to the emergency operations centers. The Seabees have also addressed emergent needs such as providing water to food distribution stations and kidney dialysis centers and replacing failed generators.

The Seabees conduct approximately 12 missions daily and expect the number to increase.

About 600 Seabees currently work at CBC Gulfport. The 22nd NCR is composed of Naval Mobile Construction Battalions (NMCB) 1, 7 and 133, stationed in Gulfport, and NMCB 40 from Port Hueneme, Calif.

In coordination with the Federal Emergency Management Agency and other agencies, Navy and Marine Corps assets are continuing to provide assistance to displaced persons, medical aid for affected people, mobility and logistics support, as well as assistance in restoring other critical infrastructure and civil services.
