Operation Silver Anvil
Following a coup that overthrew the president of Sierra Leone, a US European Command Joint Special Operations Task Force evacuated 438 people (including 42 third-country nationals). Under USAFE's operational control, two AMC C-141s flew 136 people from Freetown, Sierra Leone, to Rhein-Main, Germany; nine C-130 sorties carried another 302 to Dakar, Senegal. USEUCOM called the operation Silver Anvil.
