Prior to arriving in Iraq, Ole Woehler Olsen was serving as Danish Ambassador to Syria.
Ole Woehler Olsen, a Danish diplomat, has been appointed to head an administration in Basra, one of Iraq's four administrative regions. Olsen, a Muslim who spent much of his career in the Middle East, was selected by Danish Foreign Minister Per Stig Møller and UK Foreign Secretary Jack Straw.
