RAMSTEIN, Germany -- German Air Force Eurofighters deploy to Malbork, Poland, as part of NATO's Air Policing mission, ensuring the continued security of NATO airspace.

Five Eurofighters and around 150 personnel from Germany's Tactical Air Wing 31 "Boelcke" plus additional support units deploy to Poland as they take on NATO Air Policing mission, reinforcing the Alliance's commitment to safeguarding the integrity and security of NATO airspace. The German detachment will contribute to the continuous, 24/7 Quick reaction Alert (QRA) mission that ensures NATO's skies remain safe, secure and protected.

The deployment is part of NATO's enhanced Air Policing posture on the Alliance's eastern flank. By positioning capable, rapidly deployable fighter aircraft in Poland, NATO demonstrates both its collective defensive readiness and its ability to respond to any potential air threat.

"Our deployment to Poland highlights Germany's unwavering commitment to the shared security of the Euro-Atlantic area. We look forward to working with our Polish counterparts as we take on NATO's Air Policing mission for the next four months" said theDetachment Commander, Callsign "Colonel".

During the deployment, German Eurofighter pilots and ground crew will work closely with the Polish Air Force and NATO's Combined Air Operations Centre (CAOC) in Uedem, which directs all Air Policing activities across the region. Regular training sorties with Allies will ensure the fighters remain fully prepared to respond to any unidentified or uncooperative aircraft approaching NATO's airspace.

The deployment to Poland marks the second concurrent Air Policing detachment for the German Air Force. Since April, 2025, five Luftwaffen-Eurofighters have been leading NATO's enhances Air Policing mission from Mihail Kogălniceanu in Romania.

Air Policing is a long-standing, continuous peacetime mission being re-enforced by NATO's Eastern Sentry enhanced Vigilance Activity. Eastern Sentry is further fortifying NATO's Eastern Flank with a flexible posture, adaptable to evolving security conditions, ensuring NATO airspace remains protected.

Germany reaffirms its commitment to collective defence and the Alliance's shared principles of cooperation, deterrence and readiness. This deployment reflects the enduring strength of Allied solidarity and the continued importance of interoperability and integration in maintaining the security of the Euro-Atlantic area.
