Talks between Poland's and Germany's ministers in Berlin

Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Radosław Sikorski talked with Germany's top diplomat Johann Wadephul in Berlin about sensitive subjects in shared history, international situation, the question of security, aid for Ukraine, and the European dimension of engagement for a just and lasting peace in Europe. The two ministers emphasised the necessity of close cooperation between Poland and Germany.
In the context of security challenges, Poland's top diplomat recognised Germany's efforts to date to strengthen the eastern border of NATO and the EU. The ministers also confirmed the need to harness the potential of Polish-German cooperation, in particular in expanding the air and missile defence systems. They emphasised that the partnership between Poland and Germany requires the implementation of joint projects, in particular in security and infrastructure.
The meeting was also an opportunity to review the topics remaining on the bilateral agenda. Minister Radosław Sikorski encouraged urgent progress on building in Berlin the ultimate memorial to the Polish victims, which would be an important component of the German culture of memory. Poland's top diplomat stressed the necessity of considering Polish sensitivity while executing this project.
The meeting took place in Berlin on 1 December 2025 as part of the 17th Polish-German intergovernmental consultations.
