MoND leadership's meeting with the military personnel deployed to Bosnia and Herzegovina

On November 26th and 27th, Minister of National Defence and the Chief of Defence Staff met with the Romanian military personnel conducting their mission within EUFOR ALTHEA Operation and with the leadership team in Sarajevo.

The delegation visited Camp Butmir, the military base where most of the Romanian contingent participating in the European Union's operation in Bosnia and Herzegovina, EUFOR ALTHEA, is deployed. The minister thanked the soldiers for their professionalism and effort, who have been away from their homeland and family for days.
"The fact that we are respected as a country is due to each of you. I thank your families for supporting you so that you can do your job properly," the minister told them.

In the context of Romania's taking over the command of the European Union Force in Bosnia and Herzegovina (EUFOR), starting January of this year, the official congratulated Major General Florin-Marian Barbu, the EUFOR Commander, for the coordination and smooth conduct of the largest multinational operation in the Western Balkans.

In his turn, the Chief of Defence emphasized that, in the Balkans, Romania have proved its efficiency over a decade of impeccably completed missions: "In the talks with our military personnel deployed on mission, we noticed the same operational maturity and cohesion that make Romanian structures appreciated by all commands in which they operate. Our comrades work in complex environments, are responsible for the security of local communities and for the achievement of the alliance's objectives. We constantly monitor their needs in the field, from logistic support to personnel rotation, and we maintain a direct dialogue with the commanders to provide the necessary conditions for the mission accomplishment," General Gheorghiță Vlad said.

The MoND leadership's meeting with the soldiers deployed to EUFOR ALTHEA, held on the eve of the National Day, reaffirmed Romania's commitment to regional security and emphasized once again the professionalism of the Romanian soldiers as ambassadors of our country in the Western Balkans region.
