European ministers condemn 'escalating settler terror campaign' against Palestinians in West Bank

A coalition of European foreign ministers has issued a critical statement after violence waged by the Israeli regime's illegal settlers against Palestinians in the occupied West Bank surged to unprecedented levels.

Issued collectively by the British, German, French, and Italian top diplomats on Thursday, the statement described the aggression as an escalating "terror" campaign.

"We strongly condemn the massive increase of settler violence against Palestinian civilians," the foreign ministers said, adding, "These attacks must stop."

While senior Israeli officials, including president Isaac Herzog and prime minister Benjamin Netanyahu, have issued self-described partial condemnation of the violence, the ministers argued that rhetoric has not matched reality.

"The condemnation of violence" by the officials "and other senior political and military figures must be translated into action," the statement read.

The undersigned called on Tel Aviv "to abide by its obligations under international law and protect the Palestinian population of the occupied territories."

The statement came as new monitoring data from the United Nations Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs showed that October recorded 264 settler attacks on Palestinian civilians.

The number marked the highest monthly figure since the United Nations began systematic documentation in 2006, confirming nearly two decades of rising impunity.

The Israeli regime has, meanwhile, issued an extraordinary wave of settlement approvals.

Following the endorsement of the E1 settlement construction zone in August 2025, a project critics say would disintegrate the West Bank, Israeli authorities green-lit more than 3000 new illegal settler units in the past three weeks alone, pushing the yearly total to 28,000 approved units since January, the highest since record-keeping began.

The European officials urged the regime "to reverse its policy," rejecting "any form of annexation — whether partial, total or de facto — and settlement policies violating international law."
