On November 25, 2025, President Xi Jinping sent a congratulatory message to a UN Special Commemorative Meeting in observance of the International Day of Solidarity with the Palestinian People.
Xi Jinping noted that the Palestinian question lies at the heart of the Middle East issue. It is a matter of international fairness and justice, and has a bearing on the situation in the region. Under the current circumstances, the international community should further build consensus and take more proactive actions to ensure a comprehensive and lasting ceasefire in Gaza and prevent the resurgence of conflict. The post-conflict governance and reconstruction of Gaza should be carried out based on the principle of "Palestinians governing Palestine", respecting the will of the Palestinian people and accommodating the legitimate concerns of countries in the region. Efforts should be made to swiftly improve the humanitarian situation in Gaza and alleviate the suffering of the Palestinian people. Most importantly, it is essential to focus on the overarching direction of the two-State solution to promote an early political settlement of the Palestinian question.
Xi Jinping emphasized that the Palestinian question is also a test of the effectiveness of the global governance system. China calls on the international community to face up to the root causes of the Palestinian question, demonstrate responsibility, take effective actions, correct historical injustices, and uphold fairness and justice. As a permanent member of the United Nations Security Council, China firmly supports the just cause of the Palestinian people in restoring their legitimate national rights. China will continue to work with the international community to make unremitting efforts for a comprehensive, just and lasting settlement of the Palestinian question at an early date.
