A Hamas spokesman has condemned the ongoing Israeli strikes across the Gaza Strip, emphasizing that these attacks threaten the ceasefire agreement established last month.
In a statement on Monday, Hazem Qassem warned that the continued Israeli aggression could lead to the collapse of the ceasefire deal between the resistance movement and the regime in Tel Aviv.
"The movement has honored what it was required to do and fulfilled its obligations despite continued breaches and attacks by Israeli occupation forces," Qassem said.
He cautioned that repeated violations could undermine the ceasefire, noting that "the mediators in Cairo have been clearly informed of these concerns."
"What is happening in the eastern and central flanks of the Gaza Strip is the continuation of genocide and full-scale ethnic cleansing," he said.
"The occupation forces have intensified their attacks against civilians outside the so-called yellow line and have killed four civilians since the early hours of the morning," Qassem pointed out.
He affirmed that the presence of the Hamas delegation in Cairo underscores the movement's commitment to cooperating with mediators and advancing to the next phase of the truce.
While acknowledging the complexities of the second phase, Qassem reiterated that Hamas remains committed to its obligations, even as the adversary continues to violate the ceasefire.
Regarding the role of international powers, Qassem stressed that their responsibility is to protect vulnerable civilians and ensure accountability for the occupation forces' continued aggression.
He further highlighted that violations continue every day in Gaza.
The remarks came as four Palestinians were killed and a fifth was injured by Israeli army fire in the Gaza Strip on Monday.
Nasser Hospital in southern Gaza said the bodies of two people were transferred to the facility following an Israeli drone strike in the town of Bani Suhaila, east of Khan Younis.
Two more people were shot dead by Israeli snipers in the al-Tuffah neighborhood in eastern Gaza City, medical sources said.
A Palestinian was also injured by artillery fire near the so-called "yellow line" in the al-Shaaf area of al-Tuffah. The medical sources, however, did not provide any details about his condition.
Various international organizations, such as the UN Independent International Commission of Inquiry, the International Association of Genocide Scholars, Amnesty International, Human Rights Watch, B'Tselem, and other human rights groups, have determined that the Israeli actions in Gaza constitute genocide.
In the attacks in Gaza since October 2023, Israel has killed at least 69,733 people, most of them women and children, and injured 170,863 others.
