Iran's embassy: Israel's 'cowardly' attacks will fail to deter resilient Lebanese people

Iran's embassy in Beirut says Israel's "cowardly" attacks will fail to overcome the determination of the righteous Lebanese people.

The embassy made the announcement in a post on its X account on Sunday after the Israeli regime carried out a new attack on a residential neighborhood, targeting Beirut's southern suburb of Dahiya in a dangerous escalation.

Lebanon's Health Ministry said at least 5 people have been killed and over two dozen others wounded in the airstrike, which comes despite a ceasefire between the Lebanese resistance movement Hezbollah and Israel brokered by the United States a year ago.

In its post, the Iranian embassy said the scope of Israel's criminal attacks is expanding to include the southern suburbs of Beirut.

It added that such acts of aggression and crimes bear the clear signature of the terrorist Israeli entity, which does not hesitate to threaten the safety of the Lebanese people.

"However, these cowardly attacks will not diminish the resolve of those who are in the right, nor will they weaken their unwavering will to confront injustice," the embassy stated.

The Israeli attack on the southern suburbs of the Lebanese capital is the latest blatant violation of the ceasefire Israel signed with Hezbollah in November 2024, which was intended to end hostilities that had escalated into full-scale war.

An Israeli strike on the Ain al-Hilweh camp near Sidon in southern Lebanon late Tuesday killed at least 14 people. It wounded several others, including young students, according to the Lebanese Health Ministry.
