President Gitanas Nausėda on Friday took part in a conference call with the leaders of the Nordic and Baltic (NB8) countries, during which the reported U.S.-Russia "peace agreement" concerning the war in Ukraine was discussed.

During the urgently convened call of NB8 heads of state and government, the President stressed that no plan for Ukraine can be developed without Ukraine's participation. He emphasized that any peace initiative must comply with the principles of international law, strengthen Ukraine's negotiating position, include a ceasefire as the necessary first step and ensure Europe's role in shaping the future security architecture.

"There can be no compromises on Ukraine's independence, sovereignty and territorial integrity. Every state has the right to choose its own security guarantees. And those responsible for aggression and war crimes must be held accountable," the President said.

During the call, the leaders agreed to hold a meeting with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy in the near future to demonstrate strong support and solidarity with Ukraine.
