The Ministry of National Defence is finalizing contractions of four advanced firing ranges at the Rūdninkai Training Area. The new infrastructure will facilitate better training for Lithuania, German and other NATO troops. The MoD has invested EUR 16.3 million in the project.
Military personnel of the Lithuanian Armed Forces and the German Brigade will be soon allowed to start training with the EUR 7.3 million heavy machine-gun firing range, while the individual battle shooting range worth of EUR 3.6 million, 600 m range for rifle weapons worth of EUR 4.2 million and an anti-armor firing range worth of EUR 1.1 million will be completed by the end of this year.
"The Ministry of National Defence approaches completion of the firing range complex at the Rūdninkai training Area and will keep the pace in infrastructure development. The new firing ranges will ensure effective training conditions for the Lithuanian Armed Forces, the German Brigade and other Allied troops," said Minister of National Defence Robertas Kaunas.
The firing ranges at the Rūdninkai Training Area will provide quality training conditions strengthening the overall defence readiness and operational capabilities.
Development of defence infrastructure is conducted in line with key priorities: Host Nation Support, enhancement of housing, service and training conditions, development of ammunition storage warehouses and maintenance-service infrastructure for new equipment and weaponry.
