The Secretary-General met with H.E. Mrs. Ursula Von Der Leyen, President of the European Commission and H.E. Mr. Antonio Costa, President of the European Council.
They discussed the continued partnership between the United Nations and the European Union in all pillars of the UN activities, COP30 as well as the situation in the Middle East and in Ukraine. Pertaining to climate action, they also discussed the importance of continued EU leadership on climate change and working collaboratively towards robust outcomes at COP30.
