The Foreign Ministry issues a protest to Belarus over another violation of Lithuanian airspace

On 25 October, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Lithuania summoned the Chargé d'Affaires ad interim of the Republic of Belarus and handed a diplomatic note, expressing a strong protest regarding the second violation of the Lithuanian state border airspace from the Republic of Belarus this week.
On the evening of 24 October 2025, the competent authorities of the Republic of Lithuania recorded another unlawful entry into the Lithuanian airspace of an organised group of meteorological balloons from the Republic of Belarus. This incident once again resulted in significant financial losses for the airports, airlines, and travelers of the Republic of Lithuania.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Lithuania emphasized that violations of the state border constitute a serious violation of international law. It recalled the recurring violations of the airspace of the Republic of Lithuania from the Belarusian side, and urged Belarus to provide a detailed explanation of the incidents through established channels without delay and to prevent their recurrence. Lithuania also warned that it considers these incidents a deliberate provocation and an escalation of tensions.
