On Thursday, October 9th, Minister of National Defence, Liviu-Ionuț Moșteanu, received, at the MoND headquarters, the visit of the Ambassador of the Kingdom of the Netherlands to Bucharest, H.E. Willemijn van Haaften.

The talks aimed at enhancing bilateral defence cooperation, with an emphasis on the development of industrial partnerships, the security situation in the Black Sea and the "Drone Wall" initiative, a project designed to contribute to increasing surveillance and defence capabilities on the Eastern Flank.

In the current security context, the two officials reconfirmed their firm support for Ukraine in the face of the Russian Federation's illegal aggression. Thus, they mentioned the joint commitment to strengthening regional resilience and maintaining stability on NATO's Eastern Flank, as well as the contribution to the Air Force Capability Coalition, through the European F-16 Training Center in our country.

"The Hague is one of Romania's most important partners and allies, with essential contributions to regional security and to the allied deterrence and defence posture in the Black Sea," the Minister of National Defence stated.

The two officials also discussed the priorities of the agenda of the upcoming NATO Defence Ministers' Meeting, which is to take place next week in Brussels, with an emphasis on rendering operational the allied decisions adopted at The Hague Summit .

From the EU defence perspective, Minister Moșteanu and Ambassador van Haaften reaffirmed the need to enhance cooperation and joint commitment to strengthening the European defence profile. The officials also discussed maximizing the opportunity offered by the SAFE financial instrument, especially for the defence industry, with benefits for strengthening the European states' capacities and developing this field of activity.
