OIC Welcomes Gaza Ceasefire Announcement

The Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) welcomes the Gaza ceasefire agreement announced today, hailing the move as a step towards achieving a permanent and comprehensive cessation of the Israeli aggression, enabling the return of the displaced to their homes, the withdrawal of Israeli occupation forces, the unhindered and adequate delivery of humanitarian assistance, and commencing the reconstruction of the Gaza Strip.
The OIC also commends the efforts exerted by all mediators brokering this agreement, stressing the need to continue these efforts to eventually achieve justice and peace though ending the Israeli occupation, establishing an independent Palestinian state on the June 4, 1967 borders, with East Jerusalem as its capital - in accordance with the relevant resolutions of international legitimacy, the Arab Peace Initiative, and New York Declaration and its annexes, issued by the International Conference for the Peaceful Settlement of the Question of Palestine and the Implementation of the Two-State Solution.
