RAMSTEIN, Germany -- From September 29 to October 1, 2025, a team from Allied Air Command (AIRCOM) conducted a Mobile Training Team (MTT) event in Bogotá, Colombia focussed on Public Affairs in Operations.
AIRCOM's MTT programme strives to enhance the operational readiness and effectiveness of Allied and Partner Air Forces. This is achieved through comprehensive training in air doctrine, tactics, techniques, procedures, and methods across a wide range of operational and tactical air power concepts.
primary objective of the Public Affairs in Operations engagement was to equip personnel from the Colombian Air and Space Force (COLAF) with the necessary knowledge and tools at the operational and tactical levels to effectively plan and execute Public Affairs (PA) activities in support of NATO military operations.
The training was facilitated by two subject matter experts from AIRCOM's Strategic Communication Division, whose expertise ensured a high-level exchange of best practices in PA planning. The three day event focused on aligning Public Affairs objectives with operational effects, synchronizing media operations, and maximizing the strategic impact of communication efforts to support the commander's intent and mission success.
"NATO values its close partnership with Allied Partner Colombia, the Strategic Communications branch of the COLAF are extremely professional and have a great deal of PA experience, the engaging and open dialog during the MTT has been mutually beneficial. We look forward to working with, and alongside the COLAF in the future" said Chief Public Affairs Officer, Allied Air Command, Lieutenant Colonel Marco DeSimone.
