
Foreign Minister Radosław Sikorski meets head of German diplomacy Johann Wadephul

Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Radosław Sikorski met today in Warsaw with German Federal Minister for Foreign Affairs Johann Wadephul. Their talks covered the bilateral agenda and cooperation in the Baltic Sea.
The ministers welcomed the intensity of the Poland-Germany dialogue on various levels. They stressed the need to achieve concrete results in the priority areas of the Poland-Germany cooperation, such as: enhancing security in the regional and European dimensions, supporting Ukraine, and expanding infrastructure links.
Both foreign ministers expressed hope that the coming inter-governmental consultations will lead to an agreement on strategic Polish-German projects. They praised the dynamic economic cooperation and the growing importance of Polish businesses in the German market. In this context, Deputy Prime Minister Radosław Sikorski mentioned problems resulting from the checks introduced at the Polish-German border. He also emphasised the importance of historical issues and commitments arising from the Treaty on Good Neighbourliness, Friendship and Cooperation with respect to the rights of Polish community and Poles in Germany. He also pointed out the necessity of further progress on commemorating Poland's WWII victims in Berlin.
