Tehran, IRNA -- The political aide to Hezbollah Secretary General, Hajj Hussein Al-Khalil, has denounced external pressure on the Lebanese government to disarm the resistance, calling it a grave mistake that would serve the interests of the United States and the Israeli regime.

In an interview with Al-Nour radio station in Beirut, Lebanon, on Monday, Al-Khalil said, "The foreign pressures regarding the exclusive control of weapons by the government are 99% imposed. What is expressed in the ministerial statement and the presidential oath contradicts these demands."

He added, "Some countries are pressuring and blackmailing Lebanon with livelihood conditions, reconstruction, and even funding for the army. These conditions require Lebanon to be more prepared than ever in the face of significant dangers ahead."

Referring to the Taif Agreement established in 1990, Al-Khalil emphasized, "This agreement explicitly underscores the necessity of confronting the occupation and aggressions of the Zionist regime. However, some only implement the clauses favored by the United States and disregard the rest."

He warned, "The decision to disarm the resistance is a grave mistake that exposes Lebanon to the will of global arrogance and its historical grudges."

The senior Hezbollah official emphasized, "The recent calm in Lebanon was the result of the resistance's steadfastness, which rejected any concessions regarding disarmament. The resistance stood as a strong barrier against these impositions and did not allow the goals of the U.S. and the Israeli regime to be achieved."

He asserted that due to the ongoing threat from Israel, national mobilization for resistance and sovereignty is crucial, adding that Hezbollah's presence in the government is "vital and positive."

Elsewhere in his remarks, Al-Khalil described the recent attack by the Israeli regime on Doha as a result of the submission, silence, and inaction of some Arab governments, adding, "Two years of killing, siege, and starvation in Gaza were met with Arab indifference, and this encouraged the Zionists to dare to attack Qatar."

On September 9, 2025, the Israeli regime launched an assassination attack against Hamas leaders in Doha, Qatar.

The attack happened as a Hamas negotiating team, headed by senior leader Khalil al-Hayya, was discussing a Gaza ceasefire proposal put forward by the United States.

In a statement, Qatar's Ministry of Foreign Affairs condemned Israel's cowardly attack targeting residential offices of several members of Hamas's political bureau in Doha.

It added, "The criminal assault is a violation of all international laws and a serious threat to the safety and security of Qataris and residents."
