Tehran, IRNA -- A member of Hamas's political bureau, Izzat al-Rashq, says the war criminal Israeli prime minister, Benjamin Netanyahu, is attempting to shift the war into the region to redraw the map of the Middle East in pursuit of his mythical fantasies related to "Greater Israel."

In a statement released on Saturday, Al-Rashq said, "The war criminal Netanyahu is attempting to shift the battle to the region, seeking to redraw the Middle East and dominate it, in pursuit of mythical fantasies related to 'Greater Israel' which places the entire region on the brink of explosion due to his extremism and recklessness."

He added that the Israeli regime's attack on Hamas' negotiators in Qatar is a blatant expression of its desire to destroy the negotiation process and undermine the role of Qatar, which has taken serious steps towards stopping the humanitarian catastrophe in the Gaza Strip.

The senior Hamas official noted that Qatar is paying a heavy price for its adherence to the principles of justice, human rights, and international law.

He also referred to the Arab-Islamic summit in Doha as a historic opportunity to deter the occupation and isolate the Israeli regime.

Al-Rashq emphasized that the summit should create a "decisive Arab resolve to stop the brutal aggression on the Gaza Strip, lift the siege immediately, and protect the sovereignty of Arab states and their collective national security".

Qatar is hosting the preparatory meeting of Arab and Islamic foreign ministers on Sunday, followed by the emergency Arab-Islamic summit on Monday in Doha to discuss the Israeli attack on the State of Qatar, which took place on September 9, 2025.

The attack happened as a Hamas negotiating team, headed by senior leader Khalil al-Hayya, was discussing a Gaza ceasefire proposal put forward by the United States.

In a statement, Qatar's Ministry of Foreign Affairs condemned Israel's cowardly attack targeting residential offices of several members of Hamas's political bureau in Doha.

It added, "The criminal assault is a violation of all international laws and a serious threat to the safety and security of Qataris and residents."
