Any Attack on Poland Will Be Met With Response

"Anyone who attempts to attack Poland will be dealt with accordingly, as happened on September 10," declared Prime Minister Donald Tusk after the meeting of the National Security Council, devoted to the violation of Polish airspace by Russian drones. Moscow's provocation was aimed not only at Poland but also at European states. On this matter, Poland has full support and understanding within NATO. In times of threat, the government and the President act in close cooperation. Another key task is the fight against disinformation.

Russian Provocation Against NATO

For years, Poland reacted cautiously to Moscow's provocations, but when 19 Russian drones entered our territory on September 10, decisive action was necessary.

"When a direct threat appeared, we decided to shoot down the drones that posed the greatest danger," stressed the Prime Minister after the National Security Council meeting.

"Anyone who attacks Polish territory must expect an appropriate response. Our stance has full support and understanding in NATO."

"Everyone understands very well—I heard this from many leaders with whom I spoke—the need to organize support for the entire eastern flank, especially for Poland," Tusk emphasized.

He added that Russia's provocation was aimed not only at Poland but also at European countries.

"Everyone is treating this as a common cause. [...] Thanks to this solidarity, there have also been clear declarations of practical support for Poland. I heard this from the President of France as well as the leaders of the United Kingdom, the Netherlands, and Sweden," the Prime Minister reported.

Poland will also cooperate closely with Ukraine on anti-drone systems, as Kyiv possesses solutions proven on the battlefield.

Unity as Poland's Strength

In the face of the Russian threat, the government, the President, and society as a whole must be united, regardless of political views or sympathies.

"We value very highly—with the President—that from the very first hours after the incident, our cooperation has been exemplary. [...] Everyone welcomed with relief the fact that the state passed the test. Around such difficult decisions, it was possible to build political agreement among virtually all serious political forces. [...] Poles can therefore feel as safe as is possible in these difficult times," the Prime Minister assessed.

He explained that he had agreed with the President on continued close cooperation and coordination of actions in the international arena. This also concerns the coordination of all offers of support for Poland.

The Prime Minister also pointed out that one of the elements of the Russian threat is disinformation in the public sphere.

"Masks have fallen—we are increasingly able to identify those who, for political reasons, out of foolishness, or because they are traitors, serve Russian propaganda and disinformation," the head of government stressed.

He firmly rejected suggestions that Ukraine was behind the attack or that the incident was a coincidence. "The facts clearly point to Russia's responsibility."

Donald Tusk also announced that, in connection with the planned closure of the border with Belarus, the Minister of the Interior and Administration, Marcin Kierwiński, had gone to the site. The decision to close the border is linked to the upcoming Belarusian-Russian military exercises "Zapad," beginning tomorrow.
