INTRO: Vice President Dick Cheney discussed developments in the Palestinian territories and Iraq with Jordan's King Abdullah in Amman Tuesday night at the start of a tour of eleven countries. VOA's Mahmoud Zawawi has details from Amman.

TEXT: Vice President Dick Cheney visited Jordan as the first step of an 11-nation Middle East tour aimed at building support for the U-S / led war on terrorism and eliminating Iraq's ability to acquire and use weapons of mass destruction.

The Vice President praised Jordan as a "force for peace against violence in the region." He also hailed Jordan for the support it has provided in the war against international terrorism.

King Abdullah of Jordan urged a more active U-S role in efforts to end the cycle of violence in the Palestinian territories and expressed concern over what he said could be the dangerous consequences of any attack against Iraq on regional stability and security.
