Naval Radio Receiver Facility (NRRF) Rockville
In 1970, the receiver site, now known as the Naval Radio Receiver Facility, (NRRF) Rockville was enlarged and the Special Communications (SPECOMM) operations were relocated from H-2. Coincident with this move, the transceiver sites at H-2 (29 personnel) and H-3 (17 personnel), and the Special Communications (SPECOMM - nine personnel) at H-2 were closed and all the equipment and personnel relocated to the Naval Radio Transmitter Facility (NRTF) Grindavik and the Rockville H-1 site. NRTF Rockville was fully remoted 14 March 1997 and plans commenced to relocate the facilities to a site onbase. NRTF Rockville was closed in October 1999.
