Victory Brigade
The Victory Brigade has many different missions that support training at The United States Army Training Center, Fort Jackson. Among them are supporting Initial Entry Training through Range Operations, Instruction in Combat Indoctrination, General Subjects, and Basic Rifle Marksmanship; supporting the Soldier Support Institute, Chaplain School, Reserve Components, and other services on Fort Jackson; preparing United States Army Forces Command Units for deployment; and providing administrative and logistical support for Fort Jackson Headquarters, Directorates, Special Staff, Contingency Missions, and Victory Brigade assigned and attached Units.
The Victory Brigade traces its origin back to 19 June 1991. At that time, "Training Center Command" was formed by combining two previous Fort Jackson major subordinate commands: "Training Command" and the "Troop Command".
The mission of the "Training Command" was to support the training of Basic Combat Trainees in the combat skills required to survive on the modern battlefield. The "Training Command" provided committee-style instruction in basic rifle marksmanship, use of crew-served weapons and individual weapons, individual tactical operations, and general indoctrination subjects. The mission of the "Troop Command" was to provide administrative, training, and logistical support to all elements assigned or attached to Fort Jackson.
On 1 January 1998, Victory Brigade was established to reflect the continued evolution of the mission of the "Training Center Command" to support training of all elements at Fort Jackson, as well as to provide administrative training and logistical support to the region and as required, meet contingency requirements worldwide.
