379th Engineer Battalion
In June 2000 Army Reserve engineers from Mississippi to Michigan to Montana descended on Oklahoma for Exercise Golden Kastle. While in its third year at McAlester Army Ammunition Plant, this was the first year -- and first time ever, according to officials -- Army Reserve engineer units worked as subcontractors for Army Corps of Engineers construction projects. The 379th Engineer Battalion's mission is to rehab the loading docks and widen access roads at 38 of the bunkers.
